This is your monthly AJ2025 WA Contingent Update.

Wednesday 1 MAY 2024

AJ2025 is only 243 days away.

are you excited yet?

AJ2025 is getting closer, and we are getting more excited by the day.

The WA Contingent have been working hard over the last month to get us ready for January. we have been working on finalising applications, making a start on Unit allocations, and making sure the equipment we have in storage is going to be ready for Units to pack on Gear Pack Day.

Have a read of some important updates below, and stay across everything you need to know for AJ2025!

keep it up-to-date

To help the Contingent Support Team, we ask that you please ensure that your details on your registration are up to date. This includes the following information:

  • Contact information

  • Medical and dietary details

  • Merchandise sizes (accounting for any growth-spurts that may happen before Jamboree)

  • Blue Card Information (adults)

You can update these details via the link below.

jamboree units

The Contingent Support Team is now turning our attention to formation of Jamboree Units as we trek towards our Queensland adventure.

A Jamboree Unit is the large grouping of 6 patrols of Scouts, supported by five adult Leaders, that camp together, eat together, and and work together just like your home Unit would. A Jamboree Patrol is a small group of Scouts within the Jamboree Unit, led by a Jamboree Patrol Leader. Just like your home Unit, Jamboree Units may also choose to nominate a Jamboree Unit Leader, who is a youth member with a leadership role in the Jamboree Unit.

Jamboree Units are formed by matching Scouts and adult Leaders from different Scout Groups across Western Australia. The Scouts from a metro Scout group may be matched up with Scouts from a regional group – it’s a fantastic way to meet new people from across our state! Your Jamboree Unit may even include some international Scouts!

The adult support team in a Jamboree Unit is led by the Jamboree Scout Leader, who leads a team of Jamboree Line Leaders. Each Jamboree Line Leader is assigned a specific responsibility:

  • Jamboree Line Leader – Health & Wellbeing (two per Unit)

  • Jamboree Line Leader – Program

  • Jamboree Line Leader – Logistics.

Keep an eye out for when we announce Jamboree Units for AJ2025 in the coming months.

payment reminder

A friendly reminder that your first payment of $750 is now overdue. You can make your payment by logging into the online application system.

Visit our website for the full payment schedule, or email us to ask about a personalised payment plan.

See the important dates below for when each payment is due.

late applications

The Western Australian Contingent is still accepting late applications from Youth Members wishing to attend the Jamboree. We have places available for both Scout and Venturer Scout participants.

At this stage, we do not have the capacity to accept any further applications from Venturer Scout Service Leaders, Rover Scouts, or adult members.

Late applicants should note:

  • They may not be with their home Scout Group if Jamboree Units have already been formed and no space is available.

  • They cannot be guaranteed any or all of the standard Contingent or Jamboree supplied merchandise, nor will there be a reduction in the amount payable if some items are not available.

  • The departure point for late applicants will be Perth airport. Regional applicants who have applied after 31 March 2024 will need to make their own way to Perth airport for the onwards journey to Queensland.

  • Late applications will close on 30 April 2024, or when remaining places are filled.

financial support update

Applications for financial support closed on 31 March 2024.

We are waiting for final confirmation of the amount of funding we will receive from the Lord Baden Powell Society before we can process the applications any further. Once we are advised of the amount of funding we will receive, we will be able to finalise the applications and advise applicants of the outcome.

If you have any questions regarding financial support in the meantime, please email us.

blue card information

The Queensland Government does not recognise interstate working with children checks. In order to attend the Jamboree, all Contingent members aged 18 and over at the time of the Jamboree will need a valid Blue Card, which is the Queensland equivalent of a working with children check.

You will still need a valid Working with Children Check in Western Australia so as to maintain your adult membership with Scouts WA.

We strongly recommend that all Contingent members aged 18 and over at the time of the Jamboree work towards obtaining their Blue Card by 1 September 2024. You do not need to have obtained your Blue Card in order to submit your application to attend the Jamboree.

Information about how to obtain a Blue Card can be found by clicking the link below.
