Contingent Update #3

This is your monthly AJ2025 WA Contingent Update.

Tuesday 2 APRIL 2024

AJ2025 is only 279 days away.

the countdown is on!

You are one of the 735 Scouts, Venturer Scouts, Rover Scouts, and Adults that will be joining us in Queensland from 6-15 January 2025.

We are so excited that you will be joining us for an absolutely amazing Jamboree experience.

We have some exciting news for youth members that might have missed the deadline for close of applications. We have a limited number of spaces available for Jamboree Participant only. Unfortunately this does not apply to Venturer Scouts who would be attending as service leaders, Rover Scouts, or Adults. So if you have a mate that missed out on applying for Jamboree, tell them they can jump on our website and click APPLY NOW.

whats next

Now that applications are closed, our team will begin getting some of the finer details ready for Jamboree. This means that over the coming months you may see more communications from us. We will begin to work on Unit allocations, Role Allocations for adults, and following up on payments as they become due.

To help our team in the next few months, could you please ensure that your details on your registration are up to date. This includes the following information:

  • Contact information

  • Medical and dietary details

  • Merchandise sizes (accounting for any growth-spurts that may happen before Jamboree)

  • Blue Card Information (adults)

You can update these details via the link below.

payment reminders

A friendly reminder that your first payment of $750 is now due. You can make your payment by logging into the online application system.

Visit our website for the full payment schedule, or email us to ask about a personalised payment plan.

late applications

The Western Australian Contingent is accepting late applications from Youth Members wishing to attend the Jamboree. We have places available for both Scout and Venturer Scout participants.

At this stage, we do not have the capacity to accept any further applications from Venturer Scout Service Leaders, Rover Scouts, or adult members.

Late applicants should note:

  • They may not be with their home Scout Group if Jamboree Units have already been formed and no space is available.

  • They cannot be guaranteed any or all of the standard Contingent or Jamboree supplied merchandise, nor will there be a reduction in the amount payable if some items are not available.

  • The departure point for late applicants will be Perth airport. Regional applicants who have applied after 31 March 2024 will need to make their own way to Perth airport for the onwards journey to Queensland.

  • Late applications will close on 30 April 2024, or when remaining places are filled.

venturer scouts - choose your quest

Venturer Scouts, we need to hear from you!

If you are attending AJ2025 as a Venturer Scout Participant we need to know what type of Unit you would like to camp in for Jamboree.

Venturer Scouts attending AJ2025 with the Western Australian Contingent as a Program Participant can choose one of the following options:

  1. Camp in a Jamboree Unit composed of Scouts and Venturer Scouts. You may be in a Patrol that includes Scout-aged participants. Choose this option if you want to camp with your home Scout Group at the Jamboree.

  2. Camp in a Jamboree Unit composed of only Venturer Scout participants. You’ll be in a Patrol that includes other 15 and 16 year old Venturer Scout program participants. Choose this option if you are happy to camp with Venturer Scouts from across Western Australia.

It’s time to let us know your preference. Please complete this online form by Sunday 21 April 2024. We will then consider your preference in forming Jamboree Units for AJ2025.

blue cards

The Queensland Government does not recognise interstate working with children checks. In order to attend the Jamboree, all Contingent members aged 18 and over at the time of the Jamboree will need a valid Blue Card, which is the Queensland equivalent of a working with children check.

You will still need a valid Working with Children Check in Western Australia so as to maintain your adult membership with Scouts WA.

We strongly recommend that all Contingent members aged 18 and over at the time of the Jamboree work towards obtaining their Blue Card by 1 September 2024. You do not need to have obtained your Blue Card in order to submit your application to attend the Jamboree.

Information about how to obtain a Blue Card can be found by clicking the link below.
