transport
All Contingent members can now view their individualised transport itinerary on the ‘Contingent’ tab of the online application system. Regional transport for PREJAM in September has also been loaded.
Please carefully note the departure date and time for your flights. You need to arrive at the airport at least two (2) hours prior to the departure time. We have large groups moving through the airport, so your assistance in arriving on time will ensure a smooth trip across to Queensland.
Checked baggage is limited to 20kgs and must be packed into your Contingent-provided wheeled travel bag. Carry-on baggage is limited to 7kgs.
Further instructions around airport drop offs will be provided prior to our departure. Coach allocations for the trip between Brisbane Airport and Maryborough will be uploaded to your online application later this year.

prejam transport - arrival and departure times
Transport has been arranged for regional Contingent members from the following locations: Albany/Denmark/Plantagenet, Esperance, Kalgoorlie, Newman, Geraldton, Karratha, Kununurra, and Meekatharra. The details are available in your online application on the ‘Contingent’ tab.
All other Contingent members are responsible for organising their own travel to and from Scouts WA Adventure Centre – Manjedal. Arrival and departure times have been set and are arranged by Unit. Units are strongly encouraged to carpool to minimise traffic congestion onsite during arrival and departure.
Your Jamboree Scout Leaders will receive details about the allocated arrival and departure times, and will pass that information on to the members of their Units. Please look out for this information when it is sent to you.
Venturer Scout Service Leaders, and Program & Service Leaders can arrive anytime between 8:00am and 10:00am on Saturday 21 September and depart anytime between 1:30pm and 3:30pm on Monday 23 September.

A friendly reminder the Third Payment is due on 31 August 2024. If you are experiencing difficulty with regard to payments, please reach out by emailing jamboree@scoutswa.com.au.
leader orientation day
The Leader Orientation Day is for all adult members of the Contingent. All adults are expected to attend.
Date: Saturday 24 August 2024
Time: arrive at 8:45am for an 9:00am start. The day will conclude by 3:30pm.
Venue: Rossmoyne Senior High School, Keith Road, Rossmoyne. Parking is limited, so you are encouraged to car pool or catch public transport (train to Bull Creek Station then a short bus trip or 25 minute walk).
Catering: morning and afternoon tea provided, BYO lunch. Please note we do not have capacity to cater for modified diets at this event; morning and afternoon tea will include fruits, cheese platters, biscuits, tea and coffee.
Regional Contingent members will be contacted individually with alternative arrangements for the Orientation Day.

merchandise orders
Orders for the following optional merchandise items have now closed: hoodies, soft-shell jackets, Contingent shirts, and Contingent badges. There will be limited stock of shirts and badges available for purchase onsite at the Jamboree.
Merchandise will be distributed via Jamboree Scout Leaders at the Gear Pack Day in November, with special arrangements in place for regional and remote Contingent members.
new jamboree unit numbers
The Jamboree organisers in Queensland have allocated campsites to each Contingent. This has enabled us to allocate Units to campsites at the Jamboree. Going forward, we will use your new Unit number in our communications. For example, Unit 1 is now known as Unit FC004. The online application system will be updated to reflect this in due course.
The Jamboree is divided into three Sub-Camps; Cheeli, Fraser Coast, and Tuan. You can identify your Sub-Camp by the start of your Unit Number, as shown below.

meet the team
Over the next few months we want to introduce our Contingent Team so you know who it is that will be supporting you and your Unit at Jamboree. Each month we are going to introduce you to two of our team members. First up are our Assistant Contingent Leaders.
avery leeuwangh - assistant contingent leader
Avery’s Scouting career has been short but filled with accomplishments. Starting four years ago in California as a Boy Scout of America, Avery worked diligently to achieve rapid progress. In 2021, Avery relocated to Australia, where his Scouting experience expanded to include Australian Scouting. This transition provided Avery with the chance to meet a diverse range of individuals and take on significant roles such as Assistant Contingent Leader for Western Australia, VROC Co-Director for Mission Impossible 18, a member of the Western Australian Branch Youth Council, and a National Youth Ambassador for Scouts. Avery also continued his Scouts BSA journey in Australia and was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout in March, a milestone that remains one of his proudest achievements. Avery is eagerly anticipating the future, including the upcoming 2025 Australian Jamboree.
sam harris - assistant contingent leader
Meet Sam Harris, the Assistant Contingent Leader with an impressive 12 years of Scouting experience under his belt. With his exceptional organisational skills and deep-rooted passion for Scouting. His dedication and expertise ensure that every detail is meticulously planned, promising an unforgettable adventure for all participants. His commitment to excellence and his ability to navigate challenges with ease truly set him apart as a remarkable individual and leader. Sam believes his best achievement was receiving his Gilwell Woggle, ever since he was in year 6, he has always wanted to be a leader to give back to his scouting community.
Sam Harris is a versatile figure in scouting, embodying multiple roles including Rover and Scout Leader at the renowned Kinross Scout Group. Currently, he plays a pivotal role as Co-Director for VROC in the upcoming Mission Impossible 18, showcasing his commitment to excellence and leadership. Additionally, Sam is actively involved in the Kayak and Vertical teams, aspiring to achieve his goal of becoming a guide soon. Sam is looking forward to meeting all of you scouts at the Pre-Jamboree camp.
blue card information
The Queensland Government does not recognise interstate working with children checks. In order to attend the Jamboree, all Contingent members aged 18 and over at the time of the Jamboree will need a valid Blue Card, which is the Queensland equivalent of a working with children check.
You will still need a valid Working with Children Check in Western Australia so as to maintain your adult membership with Scouts WA.
We strongly recommend that all Contingent members aged 18 and over at the time of the Jamboree work towards obtaining their Blue Card by 1 September 2024. You do not need to have obtained your Blue Card in order to submit your application to attend the Jamboree.

wa travel bag
Our team have had a few questions about the size of the travel bag that is included in the WA Contingent Merchandise.
Here is an image of our bag, labeled with the approximate dimensions. This is a 90L bag with wheels.
Everything that you need to take to Jamboree needs to fit within this bag, and a day pack that you will take on the plane with you. So when you are thinking about what you need to take with you, just remember it all needs of fit in here.
If you aren’t sure what you need to be taking to Jamboree, then have a look at our website where you will find a suggested Jamboree gear list. It also includes the maximum weight for each of your bags.
